According to the Montenegrin media outlet Antena M, former U.S. Special Envoy for the Balkans, Richard Grenell, secretly met today with Milorad Dodik, the leader of the Republika Srpska entity in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The meeting took place at the luxury “One and Only” hotel in Montenegro, where a Republican Congresswoman from the United States was also present. Sources from Antena M report that the Montenegrin state was not involved in organizing or facilitating this meeting, emphasizing its private and unofficial nature.
Dodik’s participation was confirmed through civil flight tracking data on the ADSB application, which registered the Republika Srpska government plane’s return from Montenegro to Bosnia.
Richard Grenell, known for his active role in the Balkans during Donald Trump’s first administration, remains a close figure to the former U.S. president. Although he no longer holds an official position, Grenell continues to appear within Trump’s inner circle and is considered an informal mediator of the ex-president’s interests in the Balkans, especially in Serbia and Albania.
Previously speculated to be a candidate for high-ranking roles such as Secretary of State or CIA Director, Grenell currently chairs the Board of Directors of the “Kennedy” Center—a position marked by controversy following the departure of several prominent figures from the American cultural sphere after his appointment.
Neither party has yet provided any official comment regarding the topics discussed or outcomes of the meeting.
