Kosovo Police Search for Serb Prisoner Who Escaped from Mitrovica Facility

Kosovo Police have launched a manhunt for a Serbian prisoner who escaped yesterday from the Correctional Center in North Mitrovica.

According to a 24-hour police report, the escaped detainee is a male Kosovar Serb serving a sentence at the facility. Correctional officers have been questioned, and the Prosecutor’s Office has been notified.

“Mitrovica North, 07.08.2025 – 13:30. It was reported that a male suspect escaped from the Correctional Center in North Mitrovica, where he was serving his sentence. Police units are actively searching for the suspect. Correctional officers have been interviewed, and the prosecutor informed,” the report states.

The escapee has been identified as Đorđe Radomirović, sentenced to 14 years and 6 months in prison for murder, with 3 years and 7 months remaining on his term.

The Kosovo Correctional Service confirmed that Radomirović was classified as a high-risk prisoner and was working in the prison workshop at the time of escape.

He was also eligible for conditional early release, according to official records.
