British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has condemned the Israeli security cabinet’s decision to further escalate the offensive in Gaza, calling it a mistake and urging the government to reconsider immediately.
“This action will do nothing to end the conflict or help secure the release of hostages. It will only result in more bloodshed,” Starmer said.
He highlighted the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza, emphasizing that hostages held by Hamas are kept in terrible and inhumane conditions.
Starmer stressed the urgent need for a ceasefire, increased humanitarian aid, and the release of all hostages by Hamas.
“Hamas cannot play any role in Gaza’s future and must be removed and disarmed,” he added.
The Prime Minister also underlined ongoing diplomatic efforts with allies to secure a long-term peace plan, envisioning a two-state solution for a brighter future for both Palestinians and Israelis.
“Without the genuine commitment of both sides to negotiations, this prospect is fading before our eyes,” he warned.
“Our message is clear: a diplomatic solution is possible, but both parties must step away from the path of destruction.”
