US President Donald Trump reportedly had a heated confrontation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, following Netanyahu’s statements denying that there is hunger in the Gaza Strip.

According to NBC News, citing unidentified senior US officials, a tense phone call between the two leaders took place on July 28, after Netanyahu stated at a public event:

“Despite numerous reports of hunger in Gaza, there is no hunger in Gaza.”

One day later, Trump publicly responded, expressing disbelief at Netanyahu’s claims:

“There is real hunger in the Gaza Strip,” Trump said, adding that it “cannot be faked.”

Following these statements, Netanyahu requested a phone call with Trump, which took place just hours later. During the call, Netanyahu insisted that Hamas had fabricated reports of famine in Gaza and that the famine was not widespread.

According to NBC, during the call, Trump interrupted Netanyahu and began raising his voice, saying his aides had presented him with clear evidence of the situation:

“Children in Gaza are suffering from hunger, and he [Netanyahu] didn’t want to hear this dismissed as a lie.”
