The National Center for Border Management has announced the closure of the Glloboqicë border crossing, which connects Kosovo with North Macedonia, due to wildfires threatening road safety and border security.
Reason for the Closure
North Macedonian authorities informed their Kosovar counterparts that a large fire is approaching the road near the village of Jazhincë. Due to the risk of the flames spreading and the danger to travelers, a decision was made for the temporary closure of the border crossing.
Official Statement
“We inform the public that at around 15:40, North Macedonian authorities notified us that due to the large fire near the road by Jazhincë village and the associated risk, by order of the Ministry of Interior and the Crisis Headquarters of the Republic of North Macedonia, the RKS–RMV border at PKK Glloboqicë has been closed,” the official statement reads.
Recommendations for Travelers
Authorities advise citizens and drivers to avoid traveling toward the Glloboqicë area until further notice and to follow official instructions to ensure safety.
