Russian forces carried out deadly missile strikes in Ukraine just hours before the high-profile diplomatic summit in Alaska. Local officials reported that one civilian was killed in a strike on the outskirts of Dnipro, a central Ukrainian city.
Another person was injured during the attack, which also damaged a truck and a minibus, according to Serhiy Lysak, head of the regional military administration, as reported by CNN via KosovaPress.
In addition, Russian strikes targeted civilian infrastructure in the Sumy region near the Russian border, stated Oleh Hryhorov, head of the Sumy regional military administration.
Meanwhile, two Ukrainian police officers were killed in Sviatohirsk, in eastern Donetsk, after their vehicle came under Russian fire, according to local police authorities.
The attacks come amid heightened tensions as world leaders prepare for the Alaska summit, where discussions are expected to focus on achieving a resolution to the ongoing conflict.
