British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has confirmed that he will participate in the discussions between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House.
Starmer, along with other European leaders, is prepared to support “this next phase of further negotiations” and will reaffirm that his support for Ukraine will continue “for as long as necessary,” according to a statement from Downing Street, reported by CNN.
Starmer’s decision to join Monday’s meeting follows his praise for “President Donald Trump’s efforts to end Russia’s illegal war in Ukraine,” the statement noted.
Ahead of the meeting, Starmer emphasized that a path to peace “cannot be established without President Zelensky,” according to Downing Street.
Starmer will also co-chair a meeting of the “coalition of the willing” – key European allies of Ukraine – soon to “discuss progress in securing strong security guarantees for Ukraine in the event of any agreement.”
