The Basic Court has approved a plea agreement reached between the Special Prosecution and the defendant Muhamet Musliu, who was charged with inciting division and intolerance among religious groups through his posts on social media.
Under the agreement, Musliu was sentenced to one year of suspended imprisonment, conditional on not committing any criminal offense within the next three years.
Prosecutor Fikire Fejzullahu stated that the agreement fully complies with legal provisions and that the accused had professional legal defense throughout the process.
“Based on the evidence and the overall case file, the prosecution believes that such a sentence will achieve the purpose of deterrence, prevention, and optimal resocialization of the defendant, which is the intent of the Criminal Code, the Code of Criminal Procedure, and society in general,” Fejzullahu emphasized.
Defense attorney Visar Rrecaj also supported the agreement, describing it as sufficient to prevent similar cases in the future. He additionally requested the release of Musliu from pre-trial detention, arguing that there were no longer legal grounds for its continuation.
Musliu himself confirmed that he accepted the agreement voluntarily.
During the ruling, presiding judge Vesel Ismaili declared that all legal conditions had been met, noting that the defendant had fully understood the nature of the offense, as well as the consequences and benefits of admitting guilt.
According to the case file, Musliu had consistently spread hatred and intolerance among religious groups by propagating extremist ideology on his Facebook profile. The prosecution said he had called for violence against Jews and Christians and had shared materials aligned with ISIS propaganda.
