The NATO Defense Chiefs will hold a virtual meeting on Wednesday to advance efforts aimed at ending Russia’s war in Ukraine, according to a senior alliance official.
Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, Chairman of the NATO Military Committee, stated that 32 defense chiefs from across the alliance will participate in the video conference, part of a U.S.-led diplomatic push to bring the conflict to a close.
U.S. General Alexus Grynkeëich, Supreme Allied Commander Europe, will also participate in the discussions, Dragone added on the social platform X.
The meeting follows recent high-level diplomacy, including President Donald Trump’s meetings with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska and with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and European leaders at the White House, which so far have not produced concrete progress.
Key obstacles remain, particularly Ukraine’s demand for Western-backed military guarantees to prevent potential future Russian aggression.
