At least 34 people were injured in a massive explosion at a fireworks warehouse in Karachi, Pakistan, according to police and local officials.

Authorities suspect that a short circuit sparked a fire inside the warehouse, which escalated into a major explosion due to the presence of highly flammable materials.

The warehouse is located near the Taj Complex on MA Jinnah Road in the Saddar area of Karachi, KosovaPress reports.

The explosion caused significant damage to nearby vehicles and shattered windows of surrounding buildings.

Police confirmed that the injured were taken to Jinnah and Civil hospitals, with most suffering injuries from broken glass.

Senior police official Asad Raza noted that preliminary reports suggest an electrical spark caused the fire. He also mentioned that a similar incident occurred at the same facility about two years ago.

Industrial accidents are relatively common in Karachi, often due to insufficient safety standards, poor infrastructure, and negligence.
