In yet another tragic chapter of Gaza’s humanitarian crisis, at least four Palestinians were killed by Israeli forces while attempting to cross a military zone in southern Gaza to access humanitarian aid.

The incident occurred near the Netzarim corridor, a heavily restricted route where desperate civilians often risk their lives to reach food distribution points.

Eyewitness Accounts of Gunfire

The Al-Awda Hospital and several eyewitnesses confirmed that Israeli forces opened fire on a crowd of civilians moving toward an aid distribution center managed by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), a U.S.-backed organization operating with Israeli approval.

One witness, Mohamed Abed, a father of two from the Bureij refugee camp, described the chaos:

“The gunfire was indiscriminate… while many fled, some people fell to the ground after being shot.”

Rising Civilian Toll

According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, this incident is part of a growing pattern of deadly attacks against civilians seeking food aid:

  • Over 2,000 Palestinians have been killed while trying to obtain humanitarian assistance since the war began.
  • The overall death toll in Gaza has now surpassed 62,686, including many who have died from hunger.

Worsening Crisis in Northern Gaza

At the same time, northern Gaza is bracing for a major Israeli offensive toward its largest city, further aggravating the humanitarian catastrophe. The combination of intensified fighting, food scarcity, and displacement has left the population on the brink of starvation.
