The Speaker of the Albanian Parliament, Elisa Spiropali, has expressed gratitude to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky after being awarded the “Order of Princess Olga, First Class” on the occasion of Ukraine’s Independence Day.
In a letter addressed to Zelensky, Spiropali described the honor as a symbol of respect for Albania’s unwavering support for Ukraine during a time of war.
“This stance comes from the heart of every Albanian citizen, from our belief in freedom, dignity, and the right of a nation to live independently and determine its own future,” Spiropali wrote.
She reaffirmed Albania’s commitment to supporting Ukraine alongside the United States, the European Union, NATO, and democratic allies, in efforts to end the war and achieve peace.
Spiropali also highlighted that Albania has consistently been a strong and clear voice in defending Euro-Atlantic values and democratic principles.
“We will continue to stand by Ukraine, as we have until now. We will support all efforts by the United States, the President of the U.S., European leaders, NATO, and the democratic world to end the war and establish a just and lasting peace in Ukraine,” she stated.
Concluding her message, Spiropali expressed hope for Ukraine’s victory:
“I thank you for this extraordinary honor. I firmly believe that very soon we will celebrate Ukraine’s full victory over the aggressor.”
