Kosovo Parliament Speaker Dimal Basha addressed the resignation of Liburn Aliu from his ministerial position, following Basha’s election as Speaker of the Assembly.

Basha described the resignation as “completely natural” given the political context and emphasized his appreciation for Aliu’s work both within Vetëvendosje (VV) and the Ministry of Infrastructure.

“I read in the media that he resigned due to dissatisfaction following my election as Parliament Speaker. I respect his work as an activist in VV, as I do every activist who has contributed to the movement. I also value his efforts as a minister. It is completely normal to have some dissatisfaction; even as MPs, we sometimes disagree with ministers. What matters is that we continue moving forward,” Basha stated.

Aliu’s Perspective

In a Facebook post, Aliu explained that his resignation was submitted the day after Basha’s election:

“My resignation follows yesterday’s election of the Speaker of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo. The election does not reflect the ideals of the Republic that have motivated my engagement in public service,” Aliu wrote.
