Haxhi Avdyli, a member of the Guxo Party, has criticized the ongoing blockage in the Kosovo Assembly over the election of Deputy Speakers, specifically concerning Slavko Simić, calling it “pointless”.
Speaking shortly before the continuation of the constituent session, Avdyli emphasized that procedural rules have already been followed, and there is no justification for blocking the Assembly:
“In the previous session, the opposition’s method of blocking the Assembly continues. Previously, it was over Albulena Haxhiu, now it’s over Slavko Simić. Blocking the Assembly for Simić is pointless. The procedure has already been carried out, and there’s no need to package it together. Minority requests were respected and voted separately,” he said.
Avdyli expressed hope that opposition members would abandon the blockade mindset, noting that the voting has already occurred three times via the lottery system, as permitted under the rules.
He also defended Kosovo Assembly Speaker Dimal Basha, who has faced criticism over alleged statements concerning the Kosovo Liberation Army (UÇK):
“He clarified that he did not write that article, and our stance, shared by every patriot in Kosovo, is that the UÇK represents the country’s highest value,” Avdyli said.
