With the new school year approaching, the Kosovo Police have issued several safety recommendations for students on their way to school.

While pedestrian safety remains the top priority, the Police shared, via a Facebook post, guidance on how to use crosswalks properly and raise awareness among drivers.

Full statement from the Kosovo Police:

Start of the School Year – Pedestrian Safety is a Priority

– How to use the crosswalk
Teach children to use marked crosswalks safely and to look both ways before crossing the street.

– Driver awareness
Motorists should pay extra attention near schools and pedestrian crossings, especially during arrival and dismissal hours.

– Set a good example
Demonstrate safe road behavior to your children – do not cross outside marked lines and always stop to check traffic.

– Safety on school transport vehicles
Ensure children understand the rules for entering and exiting school transport vehicles and practice safe behavior around them.

– Avoid distractions
Avoid using phones or other devices while walking – eyes and attention must remain on the road.
