The Government of Kosovo, supported by Luxembourg, has launched a €1 million grant program for production companies operating in the open energy market. The initiative aims to promote green energy and energy efficiency across the private sector.
Prime Minister Albin Kurti explained that companies can receive up to €25,000 per project, supporting investments such as:
- Solar energy systems for electricity generation or water heating
- Battery storage systems
- Energy-efficient building upgrades, including insulation, doors, and windows
- Production line equipment that reduces energy consumption
Acting Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli, emphasized that the scheme will reduce energy costs and reliance on imports. She highlighted that Kosovo is now in the second phase of energy market liberalization, with over 700 companies operating in the open market, making this support crucial for productive businesses, the backbone of the economy.
Luxembourg Ambassador to Kosovo, Eric Dietz, praised the initiative, noting that the measures will not only reduce energy consumption but also lower pollution. He reaffirmed Luxembourg’s commitment to a long-term digital transition and support for Kosovo’s private sector.
The grant scheme includes three main measures:
- Support for solar energy systems and battery storage
- Support for energy efficiency measures in business buildings
- Support for equipment that reduces energy consumption in production lines
