Kosovo’s President, Vjosa Osmani, stated that she will engage with the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump to preserve and protect the alliance between the two countries.
Osmani held a phone conversation with Brendan Hanrahan, a senior U.S. State Department official for European and Eurasian Affairs, discussing the importance of maintaining the Kosovo–U.S. alliance and ongoing coordination.
“A strong alliance with the U.S. has always benefited our people, national security, regional stability, and Euro-Atlantic integration. As the President of my country, I will engage with President Donald Trump’s administration to preserve and protect our alliance, based on mutual trust and cooperation,” Osmani wrote on the platform “X.”
On September 12, the United States suspended the planned strategic dialogue with Kosovo indefinitely.
In a statement published on Facebook, the U.S. Embassy in Kosovo explained that the decision followed actions by the caretaker government of Prime Minister Albin Kurti that “increased tensions and instability, limiting the United States’ ability to work productively with Kosovo on shared priorities.”
