U.S. President Donald Trump announced that he is considering new actions against certain groups following the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, targeting the anti-fascist movement Antifa as a “terrorist organization.”
Trump emphasized that he is formally “designating” the movement as a terrorist organization.
“I will also strongly recommend that those who fund Antifa be fully investigated in accordance with the highest legal standards,” Trump said.
According to foreign media, Antifa is a loosely organized ideological movement without a clear leadership structure or hierarchy.
A day after prosecutors in Utah filed formal charges against the suspect in Kirk’s killing, there is no evidence linking 22-year-old Tyler Robinson to any external group. His exact motives remain unclear.
However, Trump and senior U.S. officials have consistently blamed left-leaning groups for creating a hostile environment toward conservatives prior to Kirk’s death.
The White House is now preparing an executive order on political violence and hate speech in an effort to address these challenges.
