The caretaker Government of Kosovo on Friday approved a proposal to amend and supplement government decision No. 01/64 of December 25, 2022, concerning the implementation of the EU Council’s sanctions packages 15, 16, 17, and 18, as well as U.S. measures against Russia and Belarus over the war in Ukraine.
Commitment to Support Ukraine
Acting Interior Minister Xhelal Sveçla emphasized that the decision reflects Kosovo’s continued commitment to supporting Ukraine and aligning policies with international partners.
“To support the opposition against the Russian Federation’s aggression in Ukraine, in line with EU and U.S. sanctions, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora proposes for review and approval the implementation of the EU’s sanctions packages 15, 16, 17, and 18 against Russia, along with corresponding additional measures,” Sveçla said.
He noted that on December 16, 2024, the EU Council approved the 15th sanctions package, which includes restrictive economic and individual measures aimed at further limiting Russia’s ability to wage its illegal, unprovoked, and unjustified war of aggression against Ukraine.
