All flights to and from Copenhagen Airport, Denmark’s largest international hub, were suspended on Sunday evening following the appearance of drones in the area.
According to Danish authorities, two to three large drones were spotted flying near the airport, prompting an immediate halt to takeoffs and landings from 8:30 p.m. local time.
In a statement posted on X, police confirmed: “The airport is currently closed for takeoffs and landings, as 2–3 large drones have been seen flying in the area. The timeframe for reopening is currently unknown.”
A spokesperson for Copenhagen Airport confirmed to Reuters that the airspace above the airport has been shut down due to unidentified drones.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident. “We are currently working to establish a timeframe for reopening,” the airport spokesperson added.
The shutdown has caused significant disruption for passengers, raising concerns about aviation safety and the growing risks of drone interference near airports.
