During his official visit to the United States of America, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, held a meeting today with U.S. Congressman Keith Self, a member of the Republican Party.

The meeting took place at the Consulate of the Republic of Kosovo in New York.

Discussions focused on bilateral relations and cooperation between Kosovo and the United States, with particular emphasis on defense and security, as well as on the active role and continuous contribution of the Albanian diaspora in the U.S.

“Prime Minister Kurti informed Congressman Self about the investments made in strengthening the professional and operational capacities of the Kosovo Security Force, including equipment and armaments provided by the United States, as a direct result of bilateral defense cooperation. Among other points, he highlighted government decisions regarding the acceptance and temporary relocation of third-country nationals from the U.S., the recent removal of customs tariffs on all products of U.S. origin, and the continuation of the Millennium Challenge Corporation Compact program for Kosovo by the new American administration as an expression and testimony of a reliable partnership.

During the meeting, the role and importance of the Albanian diaspora in the U.S. was also emphasized in strengthening ties between the two countries and boosting cooperation in the private sector through the facilitation of foreign direct investment,” the statement reads.

Prime Minister Kurti also invited Congressman Self to visit Kosovo and thanked him for his positions and public support for Kosovo’s membership in NATO and other Euro-Atlantic structures.
