The Kremlin has welcomed U.S. President Donald Trump’s Gaza peace plan, expressing hope that it will be implemented and lead to lasting peace in the Middle East.
On Monday, Trump secured the backing of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for the U.S.-sponsored proposal, which aims to end nearly two years of war in Gaza. The key question remains whether Hamas will accept the terms.
Speaking to reporters, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated:
“Russia always supports and welcomes any effort by President Trump aimed at ending the tragedy currently unfolding. Naturally, we want this plan to be implemented and to help guide events in the Middle East toward a peaceful conclusion.”
Russia has repeatedly criticized Israel’s military operations in Gaza, while at the same time strengthening its ties with Iran, one of Israel’s staunchest adversaries.
For years, Moscow has maintained that the two-state solution remains the best way to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
The Kremlin’s positive response adds to the growing list of international actors backing Trump’s initiative, though skepticism remains about whether Hamas will comply with the proposal’s demands.
