Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani, during a press address at the European Political Community (EPC) Summit in Denmark, emphasized that the summit is an important opportunity to discuss threats coming from Russia.

She also highlighted Serbia as one of the two main threats facing the region, calling it a “satellite of Russia.” According to Osmani, one cannot treat one as an aggressor and the other as a partner for peace.

“We must say that unity alone is not enough; there is a continuous need for consistency in dealing with aggressors and dictators. Currently, there are two key security threats against states on our continent: one comes from Russia, and the other, especially in our region, comes from Russia’s satellite, Serbia. I believe it is necessary for the EU to maintain consistency in addressing both aggressors because you cannot treat one as an aggressor and the other as a partner for peace,” Osmani stated.

She accused Serbia of treating neighboring states as non-existent or temporary and acting as an aggressor toward them.

Speaking to international journalists, the President also recalled the Banjskë terrorist attack, stressing that Serbia and Russia use similar methods to threaten regional stability.

“Of course, it is a copy of Russia. Unfortunately, Russia supports Serbia, and traditionally they have used the same concept: Russia speaks of Greater Russia while Serbia speaks of Greater Serbia, and both use the same methods of threat. We have just marked two years of Serbia’s aggression in the north of our country, and the EU has continuously called for accountability, yet there has been zero responsibility,” she said.

Osmani accused Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić of attempting to replicate Vladimir Putin’s tactics through aggression and regional destabilization. She stressed that EU states must understand that rewarding Serbia for cooperating with Russia is not the right approach.

“It is important that countries fully aligned with the EU be rewarded,” she emphasized.

Regarding Ukraine, President Osmani stated that the Ukrainian people are determined to achieve freedom and peace.

“They will win the war; they will achieve peace. For the European Union, history shows that dictators are pleased when sustainable peace is not achieved. Our call is to ensure that Russian influence in our region is addressed and that they are not allowed to continue their violence,” she added.

Osmani reaffirmed that EU integration remains Kosovo’s only path, noting that 97% of its citizens support membership. However, she acknowledged that she cannot provide a timeline for Kosovo’s accession, as it does not depend solely on the country. She stressed that Kosovo has fulfilled all conditions and will work to convince all EU member states that Kosovo is not a burden for the Union.
