Kosovo Local Elections: Around 60% of Polling Stations Verified, 13 Municipalities Complete Counting

On Thursday morning, the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Kosovo updated data from the ongoing counting activities at the Municipal Counting Centers across the country.

According to CEC spokesperson Valmir Elezi, approximately 60% of polling stations have completed the process of counting votes for municipal assembly candidates and verifying results for mayoral elections and political party results for municipal assemblies.

“As of 10:00 this morning, Thursday, results from 1,531 polling stations for mayoral elections and 1,494 polling stations for municipal assembly party results have been verified. From these, votes for candidates for municipal assemblies have been counted in 1,494 polling stations,” said Elezi.

Out of 5,142 ballot boxes for both types of elections, 3,025 have been processed so far.

Municipalities Completing the Counting Process

From Monday to Thursday morning, activities at the Municipal Counting Centers have been completed in 13 municipalities:

  • Monday: Hani i Elezit
  • Tuesday: Junik, Mamushë, Zveçan
  • Wednesday: Mitrovica e Veriut, Zubin Potok, Deçan, Shtime, Klinë, Shtërpcë, Istog, Skenderaj
  • Thursday: Obiliq

Counting Process

Under Kosovo election law and CEC regulations, the Municipal Counting Centers carry out three key activities:

  1. Verification of mayoral election results
  2. Verification of political party results for municipal assemblies
  3. Counting votes for municipal assembly candidates
