The Louvre Museum in Paris has been temporarily closed after authorities reported a break-in early on October 19, according to France’s Minister of Culture, Rachida Dati.
Minister Dati wrote on X that the “illegal entry” occurred during the museum’s morning opening hours. While the French term used can also imply a burglary, she confirmed that no injuries were reported. She added that she was present at the scene alongside museum staff and the police.
Officials from the Louvre told AFP that at least one person had entered the museum, but they did not provide details on whether any items were stolen.
The museum itself stated it would remain closed today for exceptional reasons, without giving further information.
