Following the failure to form a new government on Sunday, the responsibility now lies with President Vjosa Osmani, who is expected to invite political parties for consultations in an effort to avoid an institutional crisis.
According to her media adviser, Bekim Kupina, President Osmani will urge all political parties to cooperate and seek a “political compromise” that ensures the country’s stability and functionality.
“President Osmani, during the consultations with political parties, will emphasize the importance of approving the 2026 State Budget and the Growth Plan, as essential acts for institutional stability and economic development,” Kupina told Reporteri.net.
He added that Osmani will call for dialogue that guarantees the interests of Kosovo and its citizens, stressing the need for unity and compromise to prevent any form of political or institutional blockade.
Kupina confirmed that the President will summon parties within the constitutional deadline, in full accordance with her constitutional responsibilities.
Meanwhile, opposition parties have declared that snap parliamentary elections remain the only solution.
PDK leader Memli Krasniqi stated that his party will not seek a mandate to form the government, arguing that no party currently has the necessary majority.
“There is no need to wait for the 10-day deadline. President Osmani should call a meeting and move directly toward elections,” Krasniqi said.
The political landscape remains tense as Kosovo faces a potential governance deadlock, with growing pressure to approve key fiscal and development measures before the end of the year.
