The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, stated after meeting with the country’s political leaders that while some parties confirmed they lack the numbers to form a majority, others expressed interest in meeting again to explore the possibility of nominating a new mandate holder.
“During this meeting, we discussed several key issues, mainly ensuring that these consultations take place before deciding on the next mandate holder. We talked about whether any of the political parties currently have the necessary majority,” President Osmani said.
She emphasized that the constitutional deadline of 10 days, which expires on November 5, remains in effect, and until then she will continue consultations with all parties.
“As you have heard from the party representatives, some do not have a majority, while others have expressed willingness to meet again. You know that under the Constitution, the 10-day deadline expires on November 5. Until that date, I will maintain communication and remain open to further meetings,” Osmani stated.
She added that whether there will ultimately be a new proposal for a mandate holder is a matter for the political parties themselves to decide.
“Before the constitutional deadline expires, whether a new mandate holder will be proposed or not is up to the political parties. There was no full unanimity on whether such a proposal should happen,” she concluded.
