The leader of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), Memli Krasniqi, has criticized the Special Court for the injustices he says have been inflicted on former KLA leaders over the past five years.

He emphasized that the process continues to be unfairly prolonged, stating that the history of Kosovo cannot be rewritten by this court.

Krasniqi noted that the former leaders went to The Hague with their heads held high, without hiding or asking for privileges:

“Five years ago, four of the main leaders of the liberation war — Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi, and Rexhep Selimi — were unjustly arrested. Five years later, the process continues to drag on, injustice grows, while the truth we know has still not received the verdict it deserves. They went to The Hague with their heads held high, without hiding, without complaining, without asking for privileges. They went as statesmen, as freedom fighters, with faith in justice, with the dignity that history gave them, and with the love that Kosovo gave them.”

Krasniqi further highlighted that for 1,826 days, the former leaders and their families have endured suffering with patience and faith:

“And the history of our country cannot be rewritten in any court. It was written with blood, sacrifice, and the resilience of a people who never bowed. For 1,826 days, they and their families have endured suffering calmly, patiently, and with faith. For the sake of truth and justice. Today, five years later, with gratitude, longing, and pride, Kosovo demands nothing less than what is owed to its sons: Justice, truth, and freedom for the liberators!
