Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that he has reviewed the peace plan proposed by US President Donald Trump, adding that it “could serve as a basis for a final resolution” of the conflict in Ukraine.

According to RIA Novosti, Putin said that Russia is ready for peaceful negotiations, while also expressing satisfaction with the current military progress in the northeastern region of Ukraine, where Russian forces continue to achieve their objectives.

During a Security Council meeting, Putin explained that the US initiative, which has so far been discussed mainly in general terms, could act as a starting point for peace talks. He added that during the meeting in Anchorage, Russia expressed agreement with the proposals of the US side, despite existing challenges.

Putin further indicated that this new version of Trump’s plan came as a response to a stalemate in the negotiation process, suggesting that without diplomatic intervention, Russia’s military objectives are being fulfilled.
