European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated that any credible peace plan must stop the killings while ensuring it does not plant the seeds for future conflict.
“There are several key elements that the European Commission insists must be included. First, Ukraine’s borders cannot be changed by force. Second, there must be no limits placed on Ukraine’s armed forces that would leave the country vulnerable to future attacks,” Von der Leyen said.
She emphasized that the European Union must have a central role in any peace plan concerning Ukraine.
Von der Leyen also demanded the return of all Ukrainian children abducted by Russia, noting that tens of thousands of boys and girls remain trapped there.
