President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani received today the Ambassador of France to Kosovo, Olivier Guérot, to discuss the latest political developments in the country, the upcoming electoral process, and bilateral relations.
A central point of the meeting was the preparation for the early national elections scheduled for 28 December, with President Osmani emphasizing the importance of ensuring a smooth process and upholding the highest democratic standards.
“Kosovo has consistently demonstrated that it is a model for organizing free and democratic elections, and this process must maintain the same high standards even in this new political phase,” Osmani stated.
The meeting also addressed the formal assumption of duties by newly elected mayors, including those in the northern municipalities, a process completed earlier today.
President Osmani reiterated the urgency of lifting the European Union’s punitive measures against Kosovo, stressing that these measures are unjust and harmful to citizens.
“These measures are negatively affecting our citizens without any legitimate reason, and we expect them to be lifted as soon as possible,” she declared.
Osmani further reaffirmed Kosovo’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with France, while the discussion also covered a range of other issues of mutual interest.
