The UK Ambassador to Kosovo, Jonathan Hargreaves, met with Acting Secretary of the ECAP Secretariat, Tefik Mahmuti, following recent attacks made by LVV member at the CEC, Alban Krasniqi, against ECAP judges.

Hargreaves emphasized that the work of the Election Complaints and Appeals Panel (PZAP/ECAP) is essential for safeguarding the integrity of Kosovo’s electoral processes.

He stressed that judges must not be subjected to political pressure or attacks.

“The work of the Election Complaints and Appeals Panel is vital for preserving the integrity of Kosovo’s electoral processes according to the law. Members of the Panel must not be exposed to political pressure or attacks. This afternoon I met Chairman Zenel Leku and Acting Secretary Tefik Mahmuti of ECAP to thank them for their efforts,” the ambassador said.

This comes after the CEC voted against certifying the Serbian List for the 28 December elections a decision that was later overturned by PZAP, which deemed the CEC’s refusal unlawful.
