Hundreds of militants have traveled to Ukraine to fight on behalf of Russia, believing that their involvement will eventually be rewarded with support to reclaim territories in the Balkans.

According to an investigation by The Telegraph, a new generation of ethnic Serbian nationalists is preparing for a potential conflict in Bosnia and Herzegovina, reports Rks News.

Bosnia is considered one of the most fragile and volatile hotspots in the region, particularly amid renewed efforts by Republika Srpska to pursue secession an initiative firmly rejected by both the United States and the European Union.

Serbia has never severed its ties with the Kremlin and has repeatedly demonstrated territorial ambitions in the region. Notably, the government led by Aleksandar Vučić has refused to impose sanctions on the Russian Federation despite Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.

At the same time, Serbia continues to formally declare its commitment to European integration, creating a growing contradiction between its stated EU aspirations and its strategic alignment with Moscow.
