A football match in Vlora between Flamurtari and Teuta was suspended on Friday evening following serious violence inside the stadium.
The incident began after a conflict between players on the pitch, which quickly escalated and provoked a violent reaction from sections of the home crowd. According to reports, fans invaded the field of play, attacking players and physically assaulting the referee, making it impossible for the match to continue.
As tensions spiraled out of control, Rapid Intervention Forces and “Shqiponja” police units were deployed to the stadium to restore order and secure the area.
According to Euronews, several individuals involved in the violent acts have been detained and escorted to a police station for further questioning. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, which raises serious concerns about stadium security and fan violence in Albanian football.
The Albanian Football Association is expected to review the incident and may impose disciplinary measures, including sanctions against the club or matches played behind closed doors.
