Kyrylo Budanov, head of Ukrainian intelligence, has warned that Russia may launch military operations against NATO countries by 2027, accelerating its previously planned timeline, which initially projected such aggression by 2030.

According to Budanov, this revision significantly alters Western strategic forecasts for European security and reflects Moscow’s aggressive intentions and expedited military agenda.

He also stated that Russia has concrete plans to target the Baltic states, including Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania, posing a serious threat to Northern European stability and the security of NATO allies in the region.

Regarding Poland, Budanov noted that Russia reportedly does not plan a direct occupation but may aim for limited, strategic strikes as part of rapid military operations, without seeking territorial control.

“This indicates a clear shift in the tactics and strategies Russia might employ against Western countries, making the European security situation more sensitive and unpredictable,” Budanov added.

The warning underscores the heightened risk in Europe and the need for continued vigilance among NATO members in light of Moscow’s evolving military plans.
