The Kosovo Judicial Council (KGJK) has elected Judge Ngadhnjim Arrni as the new President of the Basic Court in Prishtina during its 357th session on Friday.
Arrni secured 8 votes in favor, with no votes against, while member Artan Abazi abstained, according to reports from Betimi për Drejtësi.
Prior to the vote, the head of the evaluation committee, Judge Drita Rexhaj, confirmed that the candidates meeting formal requirements for the court presidency were Ngadhnjim Arrni, Kushtrim Shyti, and Alban Ajvazi.
Currently, Ajvazi serves as a judge in the Department for Serious Crimes, while Shyti and Arrni are judges in the Special Department, all within the Basic Court in Prishtina.
The vacancy arose after Judge Albina Shabani-Rama was promoted to the Special Department of the Court of Appeals. The election followed Regulation No. 12/2022, governing the selection, appointment, suspension, and dismissal of court presidents and supervising judges.
