Ahead of the end-of-year holidays, the Kosovo Police have issued an appeal urging citizens to avoid all forms of violence and to celebrate responsibly.

Celebrate with heart, not with violence” is the message from the Police, emphasizing that violence—especially domestic violence—has no place in any celebration.

“Holidays should be moments of joy, respect, and family unity. Let us conclude this year with understanding and begin the new year with love, harmony, and without violence,” the Kosovo Police said in their appeal.

At the same time, the Police are calling on citizens to immediately report any case of violence to the competent authorities, stressing that 24-hour police reports are filled daily with numerous cases of violence.

According to the Police, in Rahovec, around 22:00 last night, a citizen was arrested after a dispute in which he insulted and attempted to assault his wife. By decision of the prosecutor, the suspect was placed in detention.

Another case of domestic violence was reported in Partesh, also on December 26, 2025, around 22:00. According to the Police, the suspect, under the influence of alcohol, threatened and then attempted to physically attack his wife with a knife. No injuries were reported, and by decision of the prosecutor, the suspect was placed in detention.

Meanwhile, in Lipjan, on December 26, 2025, at around 20:47, two female suspects were involved in a physical altercation at the Center for Shelter, Protection, and Rehabilitation of Victims. Both received medical treatment, and following interviews, the case was forwarded for regular procedure by decision of the prosecutor.

The Kosovo Police reiterate their commitment to preventing and addressing cases of violence and call on citizens to spend the holidays in peace, respect, and safety.
