University professor Arben Fetoshi has highlighted the critical importance of today’s elections for Kosovo’s stability and democracy, warning that hybrid warfare and disinformation campaigns pose serious threats to both free elections and the integration of the Serbian community.
According to Fetoshi, December 28 is an exceptionally important day for Kosovo, marking the first major electoral process after months of political challenges. He expressed confidence in the operational plans of the Kosovo Police and the deployment of prosecutors across the country, ensuring that the voting process proceeds smoothly.
However, Fetoshi raised concerns over Serbia’s use of hybrid tactics and disinformation campaigns, aimed at influencing both domestic and international public opinion. These campaigns, he noted, specifically target the Serbian community in Kosovo, seeking to undermine its integration into Kosovo’s institutions and broader society.
“Hybrid warfare and fake news are continuous phenomena. Serbia is using false content and disinformation campaigns to influence the Serbian community in Kosovo. These efforts also aim to prevent Serbian citizens from integrating into Kosovo’s institutions and to mislead the international community about the truth in Kosovo,” Fetoshi stated in an interview with Speciale on Tëvë1.
Fetoshi emphasized that despite these challenges, he believes the elections will proceed successfully, thanks to the careful planning and presence of security and judicial authorities on the ground.
