Venezuela has accused the United States of launching a military attack, claiming that Caracas is being struck by missiles, as regional and international tensions sharply escalate.
Colombian President Gustavo Petro stated on social media platform X that Venezuela was under active attack, urging the international community to respond.
“Caracas is under attack right now. Inform the world: Venezuela has been attacked,” Petro wrote.
“They are bombing with missiles. The OAS and the United Nations must meet immediately,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Venezuelan government directly blamed the United States, stating that it “rejects, condemns, and denounces” what it described as U.S. “military aggression.”
In an official statement, Venezuela accused Washington of attempting to seize the country’s strategic resources, particularly oil and mineral reserves, and of seeking to forcefully undermine Venezuela’s political independence.
“Such aggression threatens international peace and stability, especially in Latin America and the Caribbean, and seriously endangers the lives of millions of people,” the Venezuelan government concluded.
As of now, no independent confirmation of the alleged missile strikes has been provided, while calls for urgent international intervention continue to grow.
