U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that any country conducting business with the Islamic Republic of Iran will be subject to an immediate 25% tariff.

Speaking on Monday, Trump stated that the tariff would apply to “any business conducted” with the United States by countries that maintain commercial ties with Iran.

“This order is final,” the U.S. president declared, signaling a sharp escalation in economic pressure on Tehran and its international partners.

The announcement comes amid heightened tensions between Washington and Tehran, as Iran faces widespread protests and international criticism over its violent crackdown on demonstrators.

Earlier, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said that President Trump “is not afraid to use military force” against Iran if necessary, noting that airstrikes are among several options currently on the table.

At the same time, the White House has emphasized that diplomacy remains Trump’s preferred course of action, despite repeated warnings that all options remain available should the situation continue to deteriorate.

The new tariff threat is expected to have significant global economic and political implications, particularly for countries with ongoing trade or energy relations with Iran.
