Iranian authorities have announced the arrest of 279 individuals suspected of being connected to “agitator organizations” that, according to the government, have ties to Israel and the United States.

The head of public security police, Faraja, stated that these arrests were part of security operations targeting individuals whom the authorities describe as bandits and instigators of unrest. The report was published by the state broadcaster IRIB on its Telegram channel.

Iranian officials have repeatedly accused the U.S. and Israel of promoting instability in the country, while protesters have been labeled as “vandals.”

According to authorities, the protests have taken place in approximately 180 cities and towns across 31 provinces in Iran, fueled by public anger over the decline of the Iranian currency and rising living costs.
