Germany will deploy 13 troops to Greenland as part of a joint reconnaissance mission with other European nations, the German government and the Ministry of Defence have confirmed, according to BBC reports.
The mission, requested by Denmark, is scheduled to take place from Thursday through Saturday.
According to a statement from the German Ministry of Defence, the operation aims to assess potential military contributions to strengthening regional security, which may include maritime surveillance capabilities.
This deployment follows an earlier announcement by the Danish Armed Forces, which stated that there will be an expanded military presence in and around Greenland, involving aircraft, naval vessels, and troops from NATO allies.
The move underscores growing European security coordination in the Arctic region, amid rising geopolitical tensions and increasing strategic focus on the High North.
