Following the identification of serious discrepancies and suspicions of vote manipulation during the ongoing recount of parliamentary candidates, the Office of the State Prosecutor has taken action.

In an official statement, the Office confirmed that the State Prosecutor has been continuously monitoring the recount process from outside.

According to the announcement, Laura Pula, the national coordinator for elections, after identifying inconsistencies in vote counts among political parties across various regions of Kosovo, requested that the chief prosecutors of all basic-level prosecutor’s offices immediately begin collecting information and securing relevant evidence. This aims to determine whether any criminal acts related to the electoral process have been committed.

The office stressed that in municipalities where the recount has not yet concluded, prosecutors should start collecting necessary evidence immediately after the process is finalized.

“The State Prosecutor will remain fully committed to protecting the free vote of citizens and will investigate every case where there is suspicion of vote misuse or falsification—by any means and by anyone,” the statement read.

This step highlights Kosovo’s legal authorities’ efforts to ensure transparency and accountability in the electoral process, safeguarding the integrity of citizens’ votes.
