The vote-counting teams will need to recount 1,947 polling stations in the coming days at the Counting and Results Center (QNR).

Of the 914 polling stations originally designated for a recount, 304 remain. However, following today’s decision by the Central Election Commission (CEC), an additional 1,643 polling stations from 28 municipalities will now be included in the process.

“Based on the two CEC decisions (January 13 and January 19, 2026), the recount at the Counting and Results Center will cover all 2,557 polling stations where regular voting took place on December 28, 2025. From the start of this process (Tuesday, January 13, 2026, 18:00) until now (Monday, January 19, 2026, 16:00), 610 polling stations have already been recounted. Therefore, in the coming days, a total of 1,947 polling stations will still need to be recounted,” said CEC spokesperson Valmir Elezi.

He added that the Counting and Results Center has increased its capacity, noting that recounting 1,947 polling stations could take 12–14 days.

“The number of counting teams at the Counting and Results Center has been increased. Currently, there are 38 teams per shift, or 76 in total. The entire process of recounting 1,947 polling stations/ballot boxes could take between 12 and 14 days,” Elezi said.

During Monday’s meeting, the CEC decided to recount all polling stations in the following 28 municipalities: Deçan, Gjakovë, Gllogoc, Gjilan, Istog, Klinë, Fushë Kosovë, Kamenicë, South Mitrovica, Lipjan, Novobërdë, Obiliq, Rahovec, Pejë, Podujevë, Prishtinë, Shtërpcë, Suharekë, Viti, Zubin Potok, Zveçan, Malishevë, Junik, Hani i Elezit, Graçanicë, Partesh, Kllokot, and North Mitrovica.

Previously, according to the CEC’s January 13, 2026 decision, a full recount was planned for 10 municipalities: Dragash, Kaçanik, Leskovac, Prizren, Skenderaj, Shtime, Ferizaj, Vushtrri, Mamushë, and Ranillug.

The recount of one-third of polling stations revealed differences ranging from hundreds to thousands of votes for candidates within political parties. As a result, the CEC decided today to recount all votes nationwide.
