The initial trial in absentia against Cvetko Kostić, accused of sexual violence crimes during the Kosovo War, failed to take place due to procedural reasons.

The court session was held behind closed doors, while the defendant faces charges of sexual assault committed in the Vushtrri region in March 1998, during the war period.

According to the indictment, the victim stayed with her elderly grandmother in the family home, as she could not leave her alone.

During this time, three armed Serbian police officers in uniform, including the accused Cvetko Kostić, entered the home.

The indictment states that Kostić ordered the victim, identified as F1, to enter the house, and after a few minutes, two additional uniformed Serbian officers entered. The victim was forced into another room while her grandmother remained where she was.
