Since January 19, when he announced his travel to Switzerland, Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti has been in the alpine resort city of Davos, where what is described as the global elite has gathered.

So far, Kurti’s agenda has included participation in panels where he presented his perspectives on elections and the country’s economy, as well as meetings with several foreign officials. Meanwhile, President Vjosa Osmani drew greater attention on Thursday by appearing in Davos to sign the founding document of the Peace Board with President Donald Trump.

These days, the World Economic Forum (WEF) is taking place in Davos, Switzerland. Among the global leaders present are representatives from Kosovo: President Osmani, who attended on the penultimate day, and Acting Prime Minister Kurti, who has been there for three days.

Kurti’s Agenda

Kurti’s first meeting at the “House of Kosovo,” which Kosovo has reserved for the second time, was with Maninder Sidhu, Canada’s Minister of Export Promotion, International Trade, and Economic Development. The discussion focused on exploring opportunities for deeper economic cooperation, particularly in technology and mining.

The following day, Kurti participated in a discussion with Rory Stewart, former UK minister, and a panel on Democracy, Security, and Governance, alongside Carl-Benedikt Frey and Brad Staples. He also spoke with Tanja Wielgoss, Anahita Thoms, and Catherine Welling about Kosovo and investment opportunities. Kurti further participated in another panel on Democracy, Security, and Governance in a New Era, moderated by Brad Staples.

During these discussions, Kurti spoke about Kosovo’s electoral processes last year and the “impressive economic growth” the country has experienced.

“We did not go to elections because we wanted to; it was never our goal. It was the result of a lack of cooperation from the opposition. Throughout 2025, people saw that we did not have a government—not because we did not want one, but because no one wanted to cooperate with us. I think that if I wanted new elections, people would have punished me too. I did not want that. But if elections are there, I had to be ready,” he said.

Regarding economic growth, Kurti emphasized that his government oversaw “remarkable economic growth”, even amid political crises, with no economic or social collapse.

“At the height of the political crisis, there was no economic or social crisis. People felt the care. Even amid economic difficulties, public services did not fail, and I think this was recognized in the end,” he said.

On January 21, Kurti, along with Acting Minister of Economy Artane Rizvanolli, met with Erkki Keldo, Estonia’s Minister of Economy and Industry, to exchange views on economic cooperation and joint priorities.

During the events, the musical band “Asgjë Sikur Dielli” performed for attendees. Kurti was also accompanied by his advisors.

Kurti also met with EU Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos, highlighting that “Kosovo plays an active and constructive role and supports broader regional economic integration based on EU values and standards.”

He met with Luxembourg’s Prime Minister Luc Frieden, expressing gratitude for Luxembourg’s continued support for Kosovo throughout state-building, and with Kuwait’s Minister of Energy and Finance Sabeeh Al-Mukhaizeem, emphasizing deepening cooperation between the two states.

Regarding investment opportunities, Kurti told RTK:

“We show all international partners and potential partners the investment opportunities in Kosovo, because there will be a government that is a partner—not just a market or a free production platform, but also a state with favorable fiscal policies and the ability to engage our young, energetic, talented, and multilingual citizens. This is a unique opportunity to establish branches or businesses in our country, which is in the heart of the region popularly known as EMEA—Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa.”

Meanwhile, on Thursday in Davos, the Peace Board Charter, led by President Donald Trump, was signed. Among the world leaders signing the document was President Vjosa Osmani.
