Serbia Strengthens Ties with Russia: Vulin Meets Russian Deputy PM Novak in Moscow

Aleksandar Vulin, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Srbijagas, met in Moscow with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Novak to discuss the continuation of long-term gas cooperation and broader economic collaboration between Serbia and Russia.

During the meeting, Vulin expressed his gratitude to President Vladimir Putin and the Russian government, emphasizing that Russia has always been a reliable partner, contributing to Serbia’s energy security. He also looked forward to resuming talks in February regarding a long-term gas agreement with the Russian Federation.

Novak highlighted that there is room for expanding energy cooperation, particularly in the peaceful use of nuclear energy in both electricity generation and medical applications. He also mentioned the planned meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee for Trade, Economic, and Scientific-Technical Cooperation, aimed at further strengthening economic ties between the two countries.

The Russian deputy prime minister also thanked Serbia for refraining from imposing sanctions on Russia, specifically praising President Aleksandar Vučić for his principled stance, respect for agreements, and commitment to fostering strong bilateral relations. Novak described Vulin as a proven and sincere friend of Russia, acknowledging his significant contributions to the development of Serbia-Russia relations in all positions he has held.

This visit underscores the strategic partnership between Serbia and Russia in energy, economic, and diplomatic sectors, highlighting Moscow’s role as a key partner for Belgrade.
