A claim has been circulating on social media suggesting that recent documents related to Jeffrey Epstein indicate that he did not die and is still alive.

According to this theory, U.S. authorities allegedly had “prior knowledge” of his death, creating the impression that the entire event was staged.

The BBC has reviewed the documents and confirmed that these claims are false.

The date cited as “evidence” in an internal U.S. Department of Justice draft document — August 9, 2019, one day before Epstein was found dead — is not an official record and does not prove anything.

All official reports, including the autopsy and prison records, confirm that Jeffrey Epstein died on August 10, 2019.

The U.S. Department of Justice clarified that the date in the draft was an administrative error and is not connected to any manipulation of his death.

BBC experts emphasize that the spread of these conspiracy theories stems from a misinterpretation of unofficial documents and that there is no evidence supporting the claim that Epstein is alive.
