The Acting President of Kosovo, Albulena Haxhiu, said she will act in accordance with her responsibilities regarding the appointment of the final member of the Central Election Commission (CEC), reports Rks News.
Haxhiu noted that the CEC currently has 10 members, while the full composition requires 11. She emphasized that all deadlines for appointing the remaining member have already passed.
“I will treat this issue with the highest seriousness. It was important for me to understand whether the CEC would be blocked without one member. I have received information that nothing is at risk from this situation, therefore I will act in line with my responsibilities when I consider it appropriate,” she said.
She added that she has received two proposals for the position one from Vetëvendosje and another from Democratic Party of Kosovo.
Haxhiu stressed that her decision will be guided by the need to respect the political representation and proportional strength given by Kosovo citizens to political parties.
