Former Swedish Prime Minister Carl Bildt has said that following the student-led list’s victory in Serbia’s parliamentary elections and Aleksandar Vučić’s concession of defeat, the country must also hold presidential elections and form a new government.
Bildt described the student list’s victory and Vučić’s acceptance of the result as a significant political moment for Serbia.
He called on the European Union to step up its engagement and send a clear signal that the door to European integration remains open to a Serbia governed by a reform-oriented government.
“But presidential elections must be held, and a new government must be formed,” Bildt wrote on X.
